Wheel Fairing Question: Section 46A

Stockmanreef

Well Known Member
Is there any reason that the wheel fairing section is after the engine mount section? I have done the wheel fairings for the main gear, but not the nose wheel. I would like to do the nose wheel fairing now before engine install.

I know that the front leg fairing might require waiting until after the cowling is fitted, but the wheel fairing should have nothing to do with the engine. True?

thanks

I installed the nose wheel fairing before the engine, and didn't run into any problems down the line. I think the main thing is to install the nose wheel fairing in the in-flight position to minimize drag. To do this, the airplane should be level with the wheel just off the ground and no play in the rubber donuts while you align the fairing.

I did the initial fitting with engine off since it's much easier to level the aircraft when it's lighter.
