I reassembled the bottom end on my IO-540-C4B5 a few days ago. One thing I could not find a spec or even a mention of is the prop governor shaft end play. Gear lash is good, but as you screw the retainer plug in with the silicone gasket, the shaft seemed to have a fair amount of play. Is this normal? Should I be shimming it any?
I'm assuming it's not the kind of thing that needs a snug fit, the shaft just providing a pinned connection to support the gears? Okay to have it float a littlr?
