B and C starter fitment issues.

Has anyone else had a problem fitting a B and C starter to an engine equipped with Lycoming’s horizontal induction. ( IO-360-A1B6 ) The fuel servo and the starter are trying to occupy the same space. Talked to B&C and they claim they have never heard of this issue before ?

Yes. It?s an interference fit. B&C recommended I file off a small portion of the rear casing on the starter. I also had to file off a little material from my Bendix. The distance between the bendix FI and the starter, after modifications, is about 3 sheets of copy paper combined.

The snorkel is another area that required modification.
