removing magneto's from an RV-3?

I've got the old 4271 and 4270 Slick mags on my RV3 (O-320-E2D), and I want to pull them off for inspection. Is it possible to get them off without removing the engine first? As anyone with a -3 knows, it's very very tight between engine and firewall. Last time I pulled the mags off, the engine was already on a workbench.

Yes, it can be done! You'll probably find that a little drive ratchet for a screwdriver bit will be handy to get the ignition harness screws out. Once those are out, and the cap is loose, you should have room...barely!

Yes they will come off. I had to modify a screwdriver to fit in there.

I also helps to have small hands, and be very flexable. I've done it twice!
