camlocs

hi all,
i need a camloc with a weaker spring so i don't distort the piece of airplane the cam is mounted on. if i go to a longer shaft then the shaft does not fit properly when locked.
anyone had any luck shortening the spring so that the shaft engages the cam before you have to push on it?

Or maybe use a thin piece of alum on under side to distribute the load. [epoxy on ]

after gawking at this for an hour i cut the spring with a dremel and a fine abrasive wheel. it was a no brainer. cuts took about 10 seconds each. i cut the spring 4 times and it has about 1/8'' of free travel. wingnut camloc just catches the cam and almost no pressure is needed to engage cam. quarter turn and it fits perfect.
