RV-3 Flap actuating Rod

About to drill the holes in the fuselage for the the flap links. It appears I will see the rod end when the flaps are retracted. I don't remember seeing these on other planes. But usually the flaps are down when there parked. On my 4 they were hidden when retracted. The 4 has a different attach to the flaps that puts them more under the Fuse. I don't want to add a fairing.I was a wondering if this is normal.???? thx

Why don't you want to add a fairing? The RV-8 flap fairing fits great and takes a couple of hours to install using pop rivets - also acts as an up-stop for the inner edge of the flap.

Yes, without it, you'll likely see the pushrod.

great photos and info

Thx all, Tony I see you added a coupling nut, was that necessary for the linkage to work smoothly or to get the rod further under the fuselage?
