Aft Flap farings

Has anyone had trouble manually molding the compound curves in the aft flap track faring or is it just me?

Not sure if this is what you are having trouble with but I had trouble getting the aluminum flap fairings provided by Vans to fit so I molded some clay and layed them up if fibreglass.

Looks like DanH has some competition! Beautiful work - those of us that are "fiberglass impaired" are going to need some hints and tips from you, too.

I am flattered by the DanH competition post - he has nothing to fear from me. Nice thing about fibreglass is no matter how bad you screw up you can still fix it.

Used "Original Sculpey" modelling clay from Micheals coated with a PVA mould release. Brings out the sculptor in you. Inside edge of elec tape gave cut line on lay up.


FG trimmed & fit. Looks like it needed some finishing at this stage.

Thats exactly what Im having problems with, the flat sheet metal Vans gives you is hard to mold.
