Kyle,

I will be leaving for AirVenture that Saturday around 10:00 AM local time. I will be flying around the west side of Chicago (Aurora) and then stopping at the RV-12 fly-in in Fort Atkinson, WI from 11 to 2 local. I have a family gathering after that but plan to fly in to KOSH later that afternoon/evening. Not sure of your exact plans or timing, but would be happy to fly up together with you if it fits your plans. I'm just a quick stop for you just south of Indy.

There is a group of RVs leaving central Ohio around 8am on Saturday, but we are heading straight to OSH.

Why spend the night close, when you can spend it at OSH? You can see the mass arrivals on Saturday, which are usually entertaining.

Any RVs flying from the Pacific Northwest (PNW) to OSH this year? If so, which initial routings from PNW crossing the mountains are most preferred? Since I need to fly via BIL (Billings, MT), I am considering two routes:
-Northern: via GEG-MLP-MSO-HLN-BZN-BIL (basically follow I-90)
-Southern: via BOI-PIH-IDA-WYS-EKS-BZN-BIL (Raynolds Pass crossing)
Any input or recommendations? Anyone have experience on either or both of these routings?
Thx-Dennis

Default The fun journey to OSH this year

My dad and I are planning on leaving E16 on the 21st to KMAN (Dad lives there). On the 22nd early, we leave to visit my brother in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with possible waypoints of KEMM, KTOR, KONL stopping at C17. On the 23rd or 24th we'll finish the route to OSH early in the morning which seems to be a good time to arrive due to less air traffic.

This all depends upon weather and wear (it's better to fly when feeling good and head for barn when tired) plus it's the fun along the way that's important.

If you hear "Vans Experimental 124WB", that's us!

I'm not familiar with all the airport codes, but when I returned to Indiana from Eugene, OR, I flew to Boise, then Pocatello, through the pass, over to Kemmerer, and then Laramie. It was a piece of cake.

Myself, an RV7, and a kitfox plan to leave the Denver area, Rocky Mtn Metro, on either Friday the 22nd or Sat. the 23rd, depending on weather and head NE through Neb. Iowa, and into Wis. We hope to make it a one day trip but if it's two that's okay. We will be on 122.85 in route.

Planning on coming up from Alabama in my 12 on Saturday 23 July to Oshkosh. I always stop a hundred or so miles out to fuel up, unload and get my head right for the arrival. If the 12 group does the same then what airport and about when?
