ECU fuel question?

TXFlyGuy

Well Known Member
Can ECU's be programmed to burn more than one fuel type? How about SDS?

We will burn 3 different octane ratings, 91, 93, and 100. Can a single program cover all three?

Or, does the ECU need to be reprogrammed with each fuel type?

Call Robert

The New EFII system 32 can have multiple fuel curves. The system obviously can?t know what type of fuel you are running. You can access the curves through the new controller.
Give Robert @ EFII a call and he can explain in better detail.

ECU programming

If you tune your ECU for 91 octane, it will work fine for the other 2 fuels. The main difference is how much ignition advance you can use. Fuel curves should be essentially the same. The higher octane fuels will just give you more detonation margin.

Thanks. The folks at Link say that a "dual mapping" procedure can be done. With a switch to tell the ECU what octane fuel is being burned, 100, 93, or 91.
