I used in on my RV-8a on the nosegear fairing to protect it from scratches during lower cowl removal and on the nose wheel pant around the tow bar holes. It remained clear, virtually invisible and undamaged over 8 years of heavy use. I assume it is still good today.

This is the Scotchguard stuff and is available in several widths; I use it for various things including protecting the flaps from scuffing under the top wing skins.

I used 3M on mine. Great product....no problems.
Just don't use the UHMW tape that Vans sells. It is just cheap junk. It yellows rapidly and the adhesive goes hard meaning you'll probably destroy your paint job trying to get it off.
