Help My Vans Oil Cooler Shutter wont stay open

My Vans Oil Cooler Shutter http://vansaircraft.com/cgi-bin/sto...44-122-759&browse=engines&product=oil_shutter keeps creeping shut in flight. Would anyone have any suggestions on how to put a little more friction into the cable? I'm using a basic push pull carb heat cable. I've tried putting some silicone into the end of the cable, some silicone on the part of the guillotine slide but the stuff does not stayed glued. As well, I have tried crimping the outer casing but that stuff is hard and I have a feeling it will be all or nothing so I stopped.

Any other suggestions?

Right cable?

Are you using the right cable? It should have a ratcheting feel as you move it in and out.

Ditto. I bought the oil cooler shutter and cable from Van's and the cable has a ridged end that will hold it in place.

The cable that's in there is a ratcheting cable, but not much of a ratchet at the moment.

I had the same problem with the ratcheting cable on my cabin heat. I replaced the cable with a button lock style (no not a vernier) from Spruce.
