Default FS: RV-7/9 Rudder and RV-7 Horizontal Stab (with SB 14-01-31 done!)

I am switching my RV-7 tail kit to an RV-8 which will require I build a new HS and Rudder. I just completed the RV-7 tail kit yesterday and did the lengthy service bulletin on the Horizontal Stab. Fiberglass tips for the HS not included as I will need them for the RV-8.

I am a military pilot and an A&P so rest assured that the build is good quality.

So, if you don't feel like doing the Service Bulletin on your HS (it is lengthy!!), you can buy mine, paint it, install it on your RV-7 and fly right away.

RV-7 Horizontal Stab (setup for electric trim) - $800
RV-7/9 Rudder - $400
Both - $1100

Pickup only (Converse, IN). This will give you a chance to check the work quality also.

Pictures to follow. FYI, this is my first post so learning is in progress.

Hi Brian,

I have thought about changing to an RV-8 rudder on my -7. Please help me out here. Why can't you just change the rudder, and keep the vertical and horizontal stabs as they are?

Thanks,

Merrill

I am changing planes going from an RV-7 to an RV-8. Horizontal stab is different and the rudder is different so I have to build new ones of those. That leaves me with an extra HS and Rudder is all.

You can do that. The "8" rudder is the same rudder originally shipped with the 7 kits. It just needs a new VS cap, nothing changes on the HS, and new stops, like the drawing. The 8 (early 7, late 6) has top and bottom glass unique to it.

Ah, okay Brian. Now I understand that you are changing from a -7 to a -8. Thanks, and all the best!

Merrill

p.s. Thanks Bill. We have corresponded about that. Do you still intend to test the -8 rudder?

Question Help me

Fellas, help me out. My wife wants the RV-7 parts gone before I order the -8 parts. The itch is strong so if you are on the fence, please...I really wanna get started on the -8 HS and Rudder. Am i asking too much?
