I read in another forum that Garmin filed a lawsuit against uAvionix for their wingtip and tail ADS-B units.

:(

[ed. Let's take the lawsuit discussion elsewhere on the web. When I see 'politicians' and 'lawyers' pop up in replies right after it goes live I pick up the delete hammer. I locked the thread.

Interesting read

The actual patent does not appear to be included with the document so it is hard to see the actual merit, a lot of the language implies that the patent includes any adsb solution mounted in a plane which seems ludicrous. I was under the impression Garmins patent was about picking off the data packets from the transponder output to the antenna and injecting the additional ADSB information, uAvionix seems to be sniffing the actual RF transmission and then transmitting the additional information over the air.
We shall see.
