RV14 detail 6

An hour a day

Tom, looks really nice, but what did you do during that hour per day? When it comes to fiberglass, there are a lot of guys like me out here that are really interested in all the details. No detail is too small, at least not for me.

Day one
the VS glass tip is too wide to match the rudder glass tip. Job one is to clocoe the VS tip to the VS. Now remove the part and split it into two pieces, left and right. then sand a small wedge from each top half until they can be seen to be the same width as the Rudder tip. Now bond a temporary patch on top of the VS tip. half an hour
Day two, remove VS tip and bond two or three layers on the inside of the part to bond the two half together again, cleco to VS, 15 minutes

Day three, grind off initial patch and bond two or three layers to top, cleco back onto VS, 15 min.

Day four, build up forward top part of rudder tip to match VS tip, half an hour

Day five to .... working parts by sanding together while rudder is mounted on VS to get the proper "line" again 15 minutes a day until it is the way it looks good to you.
