IPC without GPS??

In my old Cessna I flew IFR with just a VAL INS429 (https://www.valavionics.com/ins-429.html)
and a Bendix DME (filing /A), and installed both the DME and 429 in my Van's build along with an EFIS

Unfortunately, I didn't stay current during the 3-year build, so now need an IPC. I plan on just flying VOR/ILS/LOC approaches, so I'm wondering what would be the easiest (cheapest :D) way to get current.....

a) can I get my IPC without using an IFR GPS (steam gauges only) ?

b) can this be done in a simulator only?

c) if the IPC requires flight time, can it be done in my Van's experimental aircraft?

Thanks in advance....

A) Yes. You can do an ILS, LOC, and VOR approaches. Presuming you can find a VOR approach not too far away.
B) Yes, but it has to be the right kind of simulator ($$)
C). Yes.
If I was the CFII though, I would decline to fly in actual IMC if there is no backup to the EFIS

I would think so. As always it depends on the cfii. Some may not feel comfortable in an EAB, but there?s no legal problem.
