5-Point Seat Belt Harness

Well Known Member
I bought a flying RV-12 and the original owner/builder did not install the forward seat belt that comes up between your legs. I contacted Van’s and they do not sell this individual piece. Van’s only sells the complete 5-point harness.

So here goes… Perhaps someone else decided to forego the crotch portion of the restraint system and elected to make it a 4-point harness. If anyone has this single seat belt component I’d be interested in having it. I need to do both seats. Color not important. Contact me direct at email address below.

Have you pulled up the seat cushion to see if they were tucked under the seat ? I would be leery of someone who did not install a seat belt, nor would I think it would pass an A/W Inspection if it were missing part of the safety restraint.

I presume you already thought of this, but why not just call the builder and ask about it? Maybe the belt is in his junkbox.

Van's crotch strap kit

Piper J3:
I did some homework for you.
Looking at the seat belt kits on Van's site, I see that the RV7/RV9 seat belts are the same as the RV12.

I also see that if you have an early RV7/RV9 that came without crotch straps that Van's sells a "crotch strap kit" for both seats for $32.00:

It's logical to conclude that the crotch straps in that kit would fit the RV12. If not you could return the kit and just be out the postage.

Might be worth a try.

This is excellent. Thanks Tony. I looked on Van's site last week for seat belts and must have overlooked the single piece. This really makes my day.

Thanks again Tony...
