Elderly Fuel Injection

This came out of my friend Kirk Harrell's RSA-5 during an overhaul at AFP last week. I think this is the no-flow (line pressure) side of the fuel regulator diaphragm, and as such can collect water in an RSA unit (not sure, true, false?).

Anyway, it's been in there since 1997, and I thought it might serve as a cautionary reminder....old carbs and FI units need a look inside from time to time.

Out of curiosity, what prompted the overhaul? Was it performing differently, or was it simply because it was an older unit?

Developed an intermittent running issue. No cause found elsewhere. Basic FI checks were also fine, but remember, the problem was intermittent, and the calendar said it had been a long time since the last overhaul. And, might I add, this may not have been the problem. It is now one area eliminated if the problem returns.
