Rubber wheel bearing seals to replace felt

gear1

Well Known Member
Has anyone experimented with rubber wheel bearing seals? I am tired of the ball of dust and oil that builds up on my wheel nuts and on the inside of brake rotor cylindrical part where the small amount of oil/grease seepage emerges from the felt dust shields. Cleveland wheel claimed to have come out with a rubber seal last fall to replace the shields, but all of the suppliers that I have contacted with the exception of SkyGeek have never heard of the part (Cleveland #154-13000). Skygeek has been postponing deliveries every month for the last six months. And their price is $33.00! The Timken seal catalog lists several styles of seal that have the correct dimensions. It seems to me that one of their seals might work in our application. It would be great to hear from anyone who has tried rubber wheel bearing seals.
