Stripped a bolt on the airbox

Hi all,

I was putting back the airbox today and stripped one of the bolts that attach it to the plate on the carb. The bolt spins relatively freely in the nutplate, but doesn't move one way or another. Pressing the airbox down doesn't really help and I don't want to press to hard so that it cracks.

Are there any tricks to removing the bolt? All I can think of is grinding the head off of with a dremel.

Pair of vice-grips on what is left of the head should do the trick but your method should work too. Good luck.

Thanks! Just to clarify: the head is not stripped, it's a piece of thread in the nutplate.

grind the head off and then remove nut plate with bolt in it.
