RV-7A Facilitates Boat Repair in San Juan Islands

Capt Sandy

Well Known Member
There are plane repairs in exotic places, and boat repairs in exotic places. This weekend our RV-7A rescued our boat. Roy and I flew from KHIO to KORS to get our boat ready for the sailing season. We had a GREAT flight up. The weather was clear and the islands lovely. And of course, the boat needed work, because, well, it is a boat. The Jib needed repair and no sail repair places to be found in the islands. Roy came to the rescue and schlepped our 135 Jib to a sail loft in Bellingham. Much Thanks to Tony at KORS for the use of the crew car, and the kind folks in Bellingham also.

Wouldn't that be like the option all Cirus aircraft come with?

Love the NW, spent my first 25 years of life there and still call it home.

Never been to San Juan Islands. It's on my bucket list to visit thanks for motivation. Hopefully 2018.

We have our own Sailrite walking foot sewing machine. It is a heavy bugger
but makes sail, Bimini and seat cover repairs easy.

We own a 34' Hunter that we keep at the sailing club on the the lake here,
but like airplanes they always need something. Ours needs new batteries and
some electrical.

Glad you could get the sail to a loft. Fair winds and following seas!
