48 Exhaust, RTV on heat muffs?

Hi,

The heat muff ends have a good fit but there are still several small holes for air to enter/exit. Is it a good idea to put high temp RTV here or will that affect the exhaust pipe in a negative way? Or will it become so hot that even RTV will burn...

I'm sure someone will say there is something you can use, but I'd not be inclined to use anything. All you need is whatever you apply to start to smoke, then you got smoke in the cockpit....or at least noxious fumes. I get that its cold where you are and you want all the heat you can get, but on my plane I'm personally going with two heat muffs and accept small leaks vs trying to bullet proof one of them.

Just my .02 tho.

The RV-14 has two heat muffs.

The heater performance is very good without trying to seal every tiny hole in the muffs.
Out-gassing from any sealant used on the hot muffs (attached directly to the hot exhaust pipes) would not be desirable.
