fitting the canopy

Have ordered the finishing kit for my 8 and was wondering if anyone had fitted their canopy with the aft upper skin clecoed in place rather than riveted. Would you do it again? I'd like to hold off riveting that skin until nearly all of the wiring was done back there and I'm no where near that stage yet.
Recommendations?
 
I drilled and fit the canopy and frame but put off fitting the skirts until later. I really don't think you could fit the skirts until the rear skin is riveted in place because the skirts cross several of the rivets at the bottom. I had thought about just setting several of those rivets at the front of the skin and drilling them back out but decided against it.
