Nose Gear Link Assy Bushings

I am a bit uncomfortable forcing these parts in place.

On page 40A-06 step 2, it says to insert the shouldered bushings from the outboard side into the engine mount to hold the elastomer pad. This is at the top of the link. There ends up being quite a gap when assembling. In figure 2 it says to just tighten the bolts to draw it in. Why not just insert the bushings from the inside of the mount and then put a larger width washer on the outside? It does not do any bending of the mount and it still seems to have the structural integrity.

Has anyone else run into this? And how did you deal with it?

Steve
