Receiving APRS on board?

The OpenTracker+ has the feature "capable of decoding incoming APRS packets.
When used with a suitable GPS receiver, the OpenTracker+ will
plot the positions of received stations as waypoints on the GPS
receiver's screen."

Does that mean I could receive the packets of an airborne buddy from his APRS transmitter, and see them displayed on my GPS receiver? That would be cool . . .
