VPX and ULPower

Thinking about using a VPX in my build. Engine will be UL Power. The ECU (Engine Control Unit) and at least one fuel pump (two on the system) MUST ALWAYS HAVE POWER if the engine is going to work. Would you wire them both separate outside the VPX, or would you wire an Emergency Buss for the ECU and Fuel pump in case of a VPX glitch... EFIS will have a backup battery, so not worried about it. Thanks in advance.

Uh Oh...

There are many threads on electrical system architecture out there.

Be aware, it is like the Primer Wars!

I would look at some of Nuckoll's designs in the AeroElectric Connection book.

Remember, it is IMPOSSIBLE to design a 100% reliable, risk free system. Mitigate the risks until you feel comfortable.

You will be facing a rough crowd, as you are not "doing things the way they have always been done".

As a data point, I am using a modified Z-14 electrical system with an essential bus for my electrically dependent EFII system.

Good Luck!

ECU and pump on an always-hot battery bus, connected at the battery end of the alternator B-lead ANL.
