Pneumatic Squeezer issue

Well Known Member
I was working on some test work squeezing rivets, switching yokes out, and die sets looking for the combination that was going to work best when all of a sudden my squeezer stopped pressing the rivets. The head would come up when I triggered it and it would meet the rivet but it wouldn't squeeze it.

I hope this isn't broken and I am doing something stupid.

Help?

If you're squeezing 1/8" rivets, the ram must be near full extension at the end of the squeeze. There's a cam shaped force multiplier inside, & there's more force at the end of its motion.

Don't know if that's it, but it's the 1st thing I'd check. Now, anyway. Ask me why....

Charlie is correct. It works best when you have the set holder adjusted so the rivet is squeezed to the proper height and diameter at the end of the stroke. If you don't have an adjustable set holder, get one. They make adjusting, and life, so much easier. And insures more consistent rivet squeezing.

Roberta:)

Being stupid: 1
Broken squeezer: 0

It was the travel of the ram being short.

My first two rivets on this plane.
