Use primer over gel coat?

Is it necessary to use a primer over gel coat if the gel coat has not been sanded through to the bare fiberglass?
 
There is no need to prime fiberglass during the build process. When it is time for your topcoat, yes, you do want to scuff the gelcoat and prime before painting if no other work is required on the fiberglass parts.
 
So just to be clear on this, if no additional fiberglass work was necessary on the part, the gel coat is scuffed up and then shot with primer, then color. That is to say, I can not just scuff up the gel coat, skip the primer, then shoot the color?

When you shoot your top coat over unprimed gel coat, the finished result is a different color than the rest of the aircraft. Yes there is a very slight difference in color.
 
Can gel a bit for hides and for this adhesion with the ground enough
It is not necessary to completely clean up fiberglass.
