Float Bowl Removal

So, has anyone tried removing the float bowl, without removing the carb, or is it just easier to get at things with the carb off?? Given the small orifices in these carbs, I think that checking for debris in there should probably be done frequently.

I just remove the filter, loosen the clamp around the carb and rotate it sideways enough to remove the bowl. You could also remove it from the rubber flange if you need to. I might have forgotten a step as it has been awhile.
