Salvage Aircraft Saga.... part 2

So I just formally purchased this aircraft. What proceeds sounds crazy, but I got a great price and I've built a few planes, so I assume the risk...

I'm looking for advice on my plan and here's what I know;

- O-320-E3D, 150hp, with data plate appears mid-time
- All accessories are on and in mid-time condition
- logbooks burned in a separate fire
- engine has sat for 14 mo

Here is my plan (comments welcome):

- tare it down myself and send everything out
- fix the airframe
- Find an A&P to rebuild the engine and sign the new logbooks with conditional inspection

Is this sane?

If you're going to take the time, consider signing up for the Lycoming engine school, take the trip - then come back and rebuild it yourself. Consider putting it together as a 160 HP.

Part of the deal with my wife was that I wouldn't rebuild it myself ;)

But I like what you're thinking... and perhaps the persuation of a formal factory training could make it happen. Thanks Paul!
