Matco...dragging brake issue

FWIW...I've had a dragging brake issue mostly related to a long taxi. Spoke with Matco technical support yesterday and said one potential problem of a dragging brake is due to heat build-up to the brake caliper during taxi. Over time the heat transfer deforms the "O" ring thus causing the piston to stick or not retract after brake release.

Another spot to look.

It has been posted on this sight quite a few times that one of the issues that happens with the Matco cylinders is that they don't return all the way to the top of the travel so the poppet valve will open and release all the pressure. This does not happen to them in every case, but the fix is a simple one. You can look it up by using the search function. A second return spring is most often added at the top of the rod to help the rod & piston return to the top of the travel. It takes a 3/16th nylon washes, a second return spring and a set-screw caller to hold the spring at the top of the rod. Hope this helps.

Do a search on brake drag as sUggested. Fix the issue. Adding springs just covers up the underlying problem which is most often pedal bolt alignment.
Vans design isn't ideal as it side loads the actuator. Eventually, the actuator will wear and the seals will leak. I do not know if the added springs hurt or help that issue but regardless, fix the pedal binding first.
