URL change

G

Geoff

After changing internet providers, my website is finally back up. For anyone who used to link to http://home.comcast.net/~n70ge, the new link is now http://rv8.gwevans.net.

SYSOPS: Is there a convenient (easy) way for me to edit the image tags in all of my posts to point to the new site? The search function here A) can't search for imbedded tags, and B) seems to return entire threads with my posts in them instead of the individual posts. I don't mind editing the posts with tags, but I don't want to look through the entire thread to find my individual posts. Thanks.

a tip

one way to do it, as I've found in going through this myself recently, is to change (or in your case install) your URL in your signature. All your previous posts will automatically update to your most recent signature.

I just discovered the weirdest thing - if you change your signature (that had a URL in it) to a new URL, the text in the signature changes, but the underlying URL stays the same old URL. You have to actually delete the entire line, then create a new line with the new URL. I just realized that, although I changed the web site URL in my signature a couple months ago, the underlying hot link was still to my old URL, not the new one in the text.

So, if you change a signature URL, make sure you pass your mouse pointer over it (in "preview change") to ensure that it is the link you want it to be.
