Artex 345 in an RV7A

I'm considering installing an Artex 345 in my RV 7A. Several have said the whip antenna on the 345 is nearly two feet tall. I measured my AK- 450 antenna and it is only 16 inches above the tail cone forward of the vertical stab.
Seems like two feet will require me to move it forward from the existing spot to make sure it doesn't touch the vertical stab at higher speeds. Has anyone installed this antenna in this area on an RV 7A?

Mounted mine in the baggage area. Did not want more weight in the tail. The tip is just barely tucked into a hole in that bracket.

The instructions that come with the ELT specify that if you are installing it on top of the fuselage it must be minimum of 2 feet in front of the vertical stabiliser.
