I'm in the process of shaping the rudder horn of the RV3. The drawing call for a radius of 5/16" in each corner. A 1/4 " hole is then drilled at the centre of the radius at each of the corners. By my calculation this only leaves 3/16" edge distance. Why so little? The length of the clevis for the rudder cables is at least 1/2", so the edge distance can be much greater than 3/16". Note that a 3/16" ID bronze insert is use the 1/4" inch hole.
Any comment? Did any do any thing different when locating these holes.
