Default WANTED TO RENT: SCALES

Hello,
Does anyone know of a person who rents scales (and ships via the mail)?

Alternatively, if I cannot find someone, I am considering buying a set and making them available to rent.

Digital scales don't travel well via the likes of UPS [Envision the opening scene of Jim Carey's movie, Ace Ventura, Pet Detective here] I would suggest you check with your local EAA Chapter or Vans Airforce Chapter.
My local chapter purchased a set to rent out to members and other locals when I was treasurer.

Default CPWplus 200

I got tired of begging and borrowing scales, so I just bought my own CPWplus 200 for $173. I use it all the time - not just for weighing my aircraft after modifications, but also for measuring fuel that I drain out of a tank. I built some little ramps and platforms so I can weigh one wheel at a time.

How do you measure a plane with a scales that has a max capacity of 440lbs?

Ben: Know anyone that has a racecar? I borrowed a set from my neighbor that has a dirt track car. They worked very well. Ask around.

Default Accuracy?

I always wonder if these scales with a max of 440 lbs, get more inaccurate, the closer you get their limit. Each wheel on my airplane is around 400 lbs.

Default Be advised of using bathroom scales.

First weighing for DAR sign off was with generic scales with levers used to decrease weight to within range of the scales, unpainted. Empty weight 1205 pounds.
Got it painted, 4 color with clear coat. Expecting big increase in empty weight.
Had it weighed by local A&P with CERTIFIED scales. CERTIFIED empty weight now 1,168 pounds. Happily surprised.
Was charged $100. Worth it to me.

Check with a local EAA chapter. When I built my RV9A in Olympia, WA, the EAA Chapter in Puyallup owned a set of scales that you could borrow. They appreciated a small donation for lending them out.
