DRDT-2 vs. C-Frame dimple quality

skylercc

I'm New Here
I have been using a DRDT-2 dimpler for skin dimples, and I am happy with the results. I am about ready to dimple the fuel tank skins for the attachment screws, and I wonder about the quality of these larger dimples made with this tool in comparison to dimples made with a c-frame and hammer. I dimpled the elevator trim servo access cover with the DRDT-2, and I wasn't very happy with the result. Does anyone have experience with both tools and have an good feel for relative dimple quality? Van's says to use a c-frame instead of a squeezer for screw dimples because it will make a more crisp dimple. Doesn't the DRDT-2 just work like a large squeezer?

I have used both and aside from the relaxing and enjoyable aspect of hitting something hard with a hammer over and over, I personally get better dimples from the C-frame.
