RV-12 First Flights: Photo Album

Generous RV Pilots

A big thank you to Larry Geiger for ON A MOMENTS NOTICE flying to KGRI and giving me a ride and pointers on flying the RV12 safely. Is there a greater group of reliable people than an RV owner?

The RV12 is certainly an amazing LSA that is surprisingly light on the controls and has unbelievable slow flight characteristics!

Thanks for your SN, Dick! It has been added to the caption under your photo in the Photo Album. I now have all the data needed!

One last favor: When you get a picture of your entire plane, please post it here or attach it to an email to me ( [email protected] ).
VAF Fans like to see new paint jobs!

Thanks!

Congratulations to Steve Rush on his 1st Flight!

Congratulations, Steve Rush, on your first flight in your RV-12, N391MQ, SN 120018! You have confirmed for me that the date of your flight was 19 Jun 2010. So your plane is the 44th RV-12 to fly (that we know of)!

That makes Steve Wyman's the 45th, and Dick Seiders' the 46th RV-12 to fly. Numbers will change from time-to-time as new flights are recorded "fast and furiously"!

Don

Congratulations, Keith Ball, on your first flight in SN 120256!

Congratulations, Keith Ball, on completing your first flight in N382KB, SN 120256! Of the known first flights, you are # 47!

Your plane's paint is very nice! The variety of excellent paint jobs is apparent in the first 47 RV-12s to fly!
Thanks for sending me two high-quality photos of you and your plane. Your photos have been added to the Photo Album.

I understand you first flew out of Payson, AZ, but are now keeping your plane at Lake Montezuma, AZ.

Enjoy your flying!

Congratulations, Mike Miller, on your RV-12's First Flight! (#49)

Congratulations, Mike Miller, on your successful first flight! I can clearly see air under all three of your RV-12's tires in your photo! I understand the date was 28 July 2010 at the Bayport Aerodrome (23N) in Bayport, NY. That makes your RV-12 the 49th RV-12 to fly (that we know of).

I know you will enjoy all of your future flights!

--#50-- N815W (formerly known as 120149) flies

Today at 1:00 p.m. N815W departed runway 24 at Napa airport. The flight went smooth, with no problems encountered. Winds were 220 @8kt. The tower allowed me to climb out over the airport where I flew several circuits. When I was sure all was ok I departed to the west to and checked for trim and general feel. Everything seemed pretty close. Tomorrow and I can start on the test cards and really check things out. The flight was witnessed by my wife and just about everybody who was at the airport. All can confirm that my RV grin was appropriate for a first flight. Photos will follow.

Sorry - I should provide a link to the Photo Album whenever I mention it. For now, just go to the first post on page one of this thread. There is a link near the bottom of that post.

If that doesn't work, email me at [email protected] .

Pretty much nominal flight, exceptional rate of climb and great handling. Approximately 1000 hours building time with LOTS of help from my best friend Geoff Hays. And LOTS of help from all the guys on the forum. Thanks again everyone.

Thanks for sending me your great photos! Two of them are posted on RV-12 First Flights: Photo Album.

At which airport did you launch N143WM?

Congratulations to Denny Myrick for his RV-12's first flight on 28 Sep 2010!

Denny's words:

My RV-12, N441DM, builder number 120111 had its first flight on 09/28/10 with me, the owner/builder at the controls. Location was Deer Valley Airport, Phoenix, AZ. Exactly two years for the build, thousands of hours, but I'm pretty meticulous and this was my first airplane building project.

Denny, the photo you sent me is posted to the Photo Album. Thanks for sending it!

Thanks, Bill Boyle, for sending me more info about Jim and a photo of his plane!

A quote from Bill:
This is the third airplane Jimmy's built. He also has an RV-7A that he fly's
almost daily. Jim flew P-47's during WWII and retired as the commander of
the Hawaii Air National Guard.
He's quite a guy.

2nd quote from Bill:
Hey Don, . . .
it’s very interesting and motivating to the rest of us.
We here in the airpark are proud of Jim for his accomplishments and service.

Congratulations, Ron Edmark, on SN 120191's 1st Flight! (#63)

Congratulations to Ron Edmark on the first flight of his RV-12, N95HW, SN 120191!

Today... Nov. 14, 2010 at 18:35 Zulu time N95HW (an RV-12) lifted into the air at the Lebanon Airport (M54). I did a couple of trips around the airport pattern and landing 18:55 Zule to check for oil leaks then took-off again... put a total of 1.4 hr on the Hobbs. The only issue is a heavy left wing and I need extra right rudder.

-Ron

The VAF community wishes you many safe and happy hours of flying!

Another Texas 12

<IMG SRC="http://pic40.picturetrail.com/VOL365/12098048/23604659/393870778.jpg" border="0" alt="Image Hosting by PictureTrail.com">

Well, I hope this picture went through...

Christmas came early for this Repeat Offender. RV 12 120264 lifted off late this afternoon after some fun fast taxi's and leak checks.
No wind... off in 4-500 feet, strong climb at 75K. Handles much better than expected. Very responsive in roll. Straight-ahead stalls. This bird is RV6A lite. You can land it without an airspeed indicator. Visibility unrestricted.

Got a heavy right wing and need some right rudder trim. What a wonderful little bird!

Thanks to all on Forum who publish builder blogs...incredibly helpful. Thanks to those who post...you're helping everyone behind you. Doug, thanks for a great venue for builders.

Special thanks to Jetguy; your courtesy and generosity will be paid forward.

South Texas builders: Give me a few weeks to work through the test cards and I will be available for familiarization flights.
