attaching the flap motor

There is quite some play where the flap motor is attached to the F-01243B. Is that intentional, or should I insert a few washers and/or thighten the castle nut over "hand tight"? Before inserting the cotter pin?

On the aft side of the flap motor (connecting to the falp crank) it looks fine and tight, but with the two washers on the outside you cannot insert the cotter pin. Is hand tight enough?

Thanks for any help.

Good morning-

Can you move one (or both) of the washers inside the flap brackets? Then there should be room on the threads to expose the hole on the castle nut for the cotter pin.

It has to rotate so cranking it down tight wouldnt work. You could also substitute a thinner washer.

Thanks for your help. I put two L washers on the inside (up front) and a fat one on the outside under the nut.
Aft only one L washer on the outside under the nut. I hope this "modification" is OK with Van's.

I was looking a my clearance between the two F-01243B and the flap motor there is no gap on my parts. I don't have an explanation as to why your gap is larger then it should be. I would have a look at your brackets maybe they where manufactured incorrectly.

Thanks for your help and suggestions. I was working on the canopy and didn't look back yet. But I will and try to figure out why this is different.
