Default Arlington 2010

I'm surprised that I couldn't find a post about Arlington 2010. Is anyone going?

I was looking at the website with the "Flying in" instructions, and was wondering how critical it is that I carry one of the HBO (for "Homebuilt Overnight") signs if i'm planning on camping for the night with my RV. I don't want to get shuffled off into a generic "homebuilt camping" section rather than a dedicated RV section. If I get mixed with non-RV homebuilts my RV might get germs...

Seriously though, i'd just like to get parked along with the other RV's. Am I worrying about it too much? Or should I make an "RVO" sign ("RV Overnight") and see how that works?

Take lots of pictures for me, as this will be the first year I will not make it since I got my PPL. Kind of bummed about it, but gotta finish the project.

Default I'll be there

Arlington is my home airport, so I'll just taxi across to the show and get the "fly-in" rate for the weekly tickets. I've already made my HBO sign. My plane (and I) will be there on Wednesday for the opening day and through the whole week.

I walked the showgrounds today (Tuesday - the day before everything opens) but wasn't able to tell where the RVs are going to be parked. I even asked one of the "Follow Me" scooter guys, but he didn't have a parking map yet.

They've always put the RVs in their own corral - probably to keep the germs from spreading. I'm guessing that there will be no problem getting acceptable neighbors this week.

Looks like I'll be there on Sunday. Have some other business in the area on the Monday and hope to tour Boeing and the Flying Heritage Collection. Hope to meet up with some RV people at Arlington- never been so I'm looking forward to it. Driving down so don't be looking for the Lemon and Lime Subie -6. Will be in the Seattle area Saturday evening until Wednesday AM.

I'm here with Hazebuster. The weather is great and supposed to be good all week. Come on down.

I just got back!
Lots of RV's, some in the judging area, some together in the general tie-downs.
Van is there with his brother and the crew. I'm always happy to see he's still keeping the dream alive, and I told him so.
There is an RV-12, an RV-9 and an RV-7 at their pavillion, as of noon today I saw Van with another RV-12 and an RV-10 in the RV tie down area, so maybe there will be some moves to the pavillion?
Friday is the day I always go, not so crowded, yet almost all the planes and people I can stand.
Nice day, not too hot and some breeze. If you can make it, you will be glad you did!
Oh Yea, Lots of cool antique planes & cars around a 'Red Barn' mini museum, I liked that too.

Default Arlington

Just got back. The RVs are scattered around rows 7 & 8 or there 'bouts. Some real beauties, as usual. They set some records for heat the first couple days and that trend just started Wednesday after rain through the 4th holiday so it's a fine time at Arlington this year!

For those from CA watch for thunder bumpers over the mountains in south Oregon and near Shasta in the early afternoon. Had to detour well over the Trinity National Forest. That area has NO options of you have a power issue......!

Default Some pictures

On Thursday the 787 made some very quiet low passes while returning back from a 5 hr test flight.

Here was a unique feature from an RV from New Mexico I believe

A couple of the many Canadian RV's that braved the border crossing.

High Roller was there again, returning from last year.

Friday afternoon from the American Standard that was selling rides all week.

Finally some high cirrus clouds roll in to provide some relief from the records temperatures - as reflected in a beatiful Sukhoi paint scheme.

An interesting paint scheme. I was looking for ideas all week.

The Black Jack squadron flew each day.
