Byrd's Adventure Center

Low Pass

I spent the weekend with four friends at the Byrd's Adventure Center in Northwest Arkansas and thought I'd pass along a little trip report.

This was my second visit. Last time I camped along the river in my tent and spent the weekend hiking around and enjoying the occasional "hitch-hike" ride.

This year's plan was a little different since Zen and Pam (owners) have just commissioned two very nice new cabins - the "Bush Pilot" and the "Aviator" - we decided to sleep indoors. These are brand new and very nice - very wife/girlfriend worthy! :) Also, no hitch-hiking required this year since I brought my mountain bike and my friends drove in with their motorcycles.

If you're not familiar with Byrd's, they are located in the Ozark Mountains along the Mulberry River. They offer trails for hiking, mountain biking, motorcycling, 4 wheelers, rock crawlers. The river offers kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. A restaurant and store are on site as well.

And best of all, they have a runway for flying in. Several, actually. Zen is a very enthusiastic pilot who can be seen cruising up and down the valley in his Kitfox. So he would be thrilled to have pilots fly in and try the new cabins.

If you need a destination in that part of the world and don't mind spending time in the Ozark mountains alongside a river with 100-ft trees around you, then I suggest you check out Byrd's. We'll be going back. Just need to figure out how many times we'll be returning this year.

Green

Sure looks like a nice quiet place for a weekend getaway!

Mostly everything looks green...Still have 2ft of snow in my yard!

Green translates to warm.

Thank you for sharing!

Best regards,
Mike

Which runway?

Brian, which runway are those cabins located on? I have been to Byrds several times and have always landed on the 2,500' runway. Looks like the new cabins are on the 1,100' runway.

They have great food. I've ordered 'to go' and have flown down to get it!
