Announcing first flight of N819RV
On the morning of 4 July 2016 N819RV, an RV-7A, took flight for the first time from KGOO. The length of the flight was about 30 minutes during which no significant problems were noted.
The plane flies straight, no heavy wings, and the engine and oil temps were nominal.
The one issue that I had was the inability to lower the flaps as I was turning base. Control of the flaps did return a few seconds later and I continued the approach normally.
I later discovered that the flap problem was due to the max flap speed in my vertical power box being set to 85kts instead of 95kts.
There is more flowery prose on my blog, but that is pretty much all there is to say about it. Vans has designed one awesome airplane!
I will be attending Oshkosh but, unfortunately not in N819RV due to my phase 1 limitations. I asked for a 2000 mile phase 1 radius, but the FAA said no
However, I hope to meet many of you there and show off my new RV grin.
