Helped my buddy Bob do his conditional inspection this year in March, where we were at about 220 Hrs Hobbs.
Bob runs a LOT of 100LL with Decalin at 1/2 oz per 10 gallons.
While doing the oil change, I cleaned out the oil sump tank, disassembled it, and cleaned /wiped out all the lead accumulation at the bottom of the tank.
It kind of got me thinking about where all that lead ends up. Is there lead accumulating at the bottom of the crank case too? Bottom of the gear box?
What about what it does to the oil filter? Is there lead build up in the bottom of the oil filter too? Does the lead stay in suspension or fall out, or end up clogging the filter medium?
Shell sport Plus 4 oil 10w-40 being used.
Sorry, too much coffee this morning has me thinking "what if".
