Trim cable attachment brackets ?

I am going to order the nicer brackets. These just don't look sturdy enough. Anyhow, the my question is..... Vans calls for pop rivets to secure the brackets. Specifically LP4-3 pop rivets and I was wondering if anyone else used something other than a pop rivet to attach the bracket. Something more secure and looks better??

Thanks
Ken

I used 6-32 Torx 100 degree flat head machine screws with nylon stop nuts. However, pop rivets would be lighter.

PEM nuts for me

I an using the machined trim cable anchor brackets. I have some PEM nuts that I will clinch in place from the top of the bracket. I will countersink the mating side of the bracket to accept the countersink screw/dimple. I am also using TORX on my fairings and access plates.

I may get to that part later this weekend. If all goes well, I will post to my blog.
