battery discharging

Ten minutes into my flight I noticed that the battery was discharging, down to 12.9. volts and 7 amps. I turned off both landing light and nav strobe lights. Volts started to climb to 13.9 and amp charge of 11. Dynon 'caution' displayed "battery missing/ fault". Is this the beginning sign of a bad VR, only have 4.7 hours on the plane?
Any help or ideas would be appreciated, Thanks.

Check to see if your VR connections are good.

Thanks Jim, but it's not the title I want to hold.
Checked the connection and charged the battery. Started the engine and gave it a few minutes. Still showed battery discharging, is it really the VR?
