Hello,
We are pleased to announce a significant free software upgrade for the Aera 660. The V3.30 release which is available NOW for download includes free internet weather for parts of the world that provide this data. All you need is an internet connection to enjoy the benefits of internet weather while using the Aera 660 at home and office.
The current software supports NEXRAD and METARS/TAFS over the internet, with more internet weather products coming in the future.
Here is an image taken during Sun N Fun when the weather was making arrivals difficult.
On the weather page, if you look under menu, you will see that it now supports another new weather format "Internet Weather".
Anytime you are away from the plane or are not connected to your GDL or GTX, the unit will default to using internet weather if you just leave this selection on AUTO.
METARS/TAFS page
For our mates in Australia, they get to enjoy these benefits as well!
And here is some weather in Norway to show another part of the worldwide weather support.
And some mixed precipitation types.
Now there even more use for the Aera 660 home dock. When not flying with your unit you can just snap it into the home dock in your house where it charges the battery, connects to WiFi, keeps the databases updated and provides a great ?weather station? showing precip and the temperature and winds from the closest reporting station.
Thanks,
Steve
