Hey everyone. Two and a half years ago,
N611RV was sold, because I was starting grad school and would not have much time for flying. (In order to not get too rusty, I rented
a SportStar - which is still
quite fun - once every six weeks or so). Literally the day after I got back home from my
graduation trip, I started shopping around for RV-6s, along with a friend. We found N130BN, built by a gentleman in Portland who lost his medical (a very sad story, the kind that makes you want to shake your fist in the air at the fates). CS prop, 180hp O-360, tip-up canopy, taildragger, and very well built: straight structure, anti-corrosion coated, nice paint job (designed to look like a late-1950s Corvette), etc. We love it.
My friend, who bought the RV-6 with me, has owned an EZ for a few years, and wanted an airplane that can get him into shorter and/or unpaved strips, something that would come in handy around here in the Pacific Northwest. He also wants to sell his EZ! But for the brief period of time while he owns two airplanes, I thought we should go flying to get pictures of both of them together. I called up a fellow aviation photographer and pilot, Jason Fortenbacher, who got many shots including the following two.
Proof that composites and aluminum can happily fly together ;]
I would encourage you to check out
the rest of Jason's gallery from that flight.
Then, just last weekend, another photographer -
Pablo Fernicola - went flying alongside me. (He later got a ride in the RV, too). He got many great shots. My two favorites are below.
EDIT: Here's one more by Jason Fortenbacher; me flying the RV-6 along with a coworker in the RV-7 that he built, and an amazing sunset.
The full set is here.
EDIT 2: Went flying with Jason again and got more great shots. Jason was shooting from a 150, I was in the RV-6, and behind me was a Glasair test pilot in the GlaStar that he owns. At one point he landed on a gravel bar by a river bank; I followed him down until he started getting a little too slow for me, at which point I "went around" and he landed. Good times.
The full set is here.
I can't wait to see what adventures I get up to with this airplane! (EDIT: Just this week,
my wife and I had a very memorable one)...
