Same thing happened to mine 4 yrs ago but not near as bad as yours (sorry). None of the suggestions mentioned worked however I do believe the sun is having some effect as the stain is slowly fading....

I had a PP Alt trip every time I took off...

I had a PP Alt trip every time I took off recently. Changed the master solenoid, no help. Changes the PP brush and VR assembly, no help. Changed the $4.95 battery master switch, Tada!

Hans I found keeping a little power to touchdown helped with pitch control. More airflow over the elevator. With a backseater, the -4 is a different airplane.

Keep you back up steam A/S indicator. I lost my Dynon EFIS/EMS instruments at a nearby airport and returned home with just the back up A/S. No need for a back up altimeter.
