Great Product

Installed mine on M1B tubes. Had to chop them then reweld. All I can say is that this is a great product. Engines runs great after being plagued with induction leaks from poor custom made tubes....

After burning a bunch of fuel, cowling and un-cowling the engine, spending a small fortune on different injector orifices from airflow performance, I would just die if someone swapped my injectors...

Another thing that may bewilder the non-Vanís group is that on the Vanís designs, Vno is based on indicated airspeed regardless of altitude and Vne is based on true airspeed. Let them chew on that...

Cost to upgrade

In december 2017, I paid $3500.00 to upgrade a straight 430 to WAAS. In Jan 2018, it cost me $3750.00 to do another one. I had to go through an official dealer.

In my humble opinion, certified planes have a lot more robust landing gear setup over Van's RV-3 thru RV-12 designs. Not sure how the -14 would measure up.

If GPS is going to be cut off months at a time, why would the FAA decommission VOR's? Is there another motive? With the FAA emphasis being on safety, these actions appear to be counterproductive....

That's about where I'm at in level flight all in but I'm running ~180hp.
Pmag ignition timed 5deg ATDC so lost some hp there. Got 196 mph TAS level flight once in smooth air and under 1600lbs.

Jim, I'm running a power twist belt. We will see how long it lasts. Supposed to last many times longer than rubber belt, transmit less vibrations, and so on. Took about 5 minutes to install.

I tend to agree that there isn't any known evidence with the zipper trailing edge rudder. However, data does indicate the folded edge rudder tends to stay with the AC more often than the zippered...

Why not create the flight plan in the AFS and load the approach in the Garmin? Use the AFS for 90% of the flights and then revert to Garmin just for the approaches. Just curious.

8k has nice performance but 11,5k - 12,5k, the doggone thing just comes alive with speed and efficiency. My old -6 would start to sit on its tail at those altitudes. Your Tailwheel -9 is Vans best...
