I did not use the gasket on the installation on my 12 tank. I just followed Vans plans which called for sealant. So far so good after about 10 hours of flying.

I always dread putting the safety wire back on the Gascolator. Such a tight space.
Service the Gascolator during your Condition inspection when you have removed the old gear leg. Easy peasy

The wiring is the problem. Many have had the same issue. Cut off one of the phone jack plugs and install new plug with wires flipped. This will solve your problem.
