I would make a plug of foam, then glass that. If you just take what you have, put layers to make it thicker, then carve the inside out, I think youíll have a heavy mess on your hands.

14 vs 7 in price

If you want more things to check, I would do an pull change (even if it isn't due) check all of your screens & filters, then measure the oil going back in to know the calibration of your dipstick....

12 point sockets suck, use a 6 point when you need the strength. You could also use a large channel lock style pliers to getting off..you can also drive a long screw driver clear through the middle...

You said 3/8, but I think it's more like 1/8 pipe thread. No need for a jam nut on pipe thread, just a sealant like Teflon paste and retighten it up!
