I've read of several RV14A builders installing the Hartzell Composite prop in lieu of the recommended Hartzell BA Metal prop. I'm not sure of the weight difference, suspect it must be at least 10...

Vans makes several lengths

I installed an io-320. Standard -9 cables were too short. I measured and found vans had cables that worked. If I recall they make have been cable used on RV10 installs.

Unfortunately FAA rebate reservations now closed

This could have provided some relief to the situation. As an early adopter I paid $2300 for the TSO'd (haha) ADSB-600. Dallas is offering a great deal, now if we only could have gotten to this...

Mine did not work without external antenna

Mine is located top center in my -9a tip up panel. It did not work well at all. Added an external antenna and it works perfectly now. Picked up the specified antenna on ebay for $35

I'm 54 and have had my general ticket since I was 16 - wow that's 38 years. Back then I never dreamed I'd build and fly my own plane. But in a crazy way it was ham radio that got me into aviation....

Stein cut me a panel which allowed me to use the bare wire cradle mentioned above. But be sure that your put a notch in to allow for the SD card to be inserted . . . - I'll try and post a picture.

Grind and polish while you are at it.

There are grinders that do just what you need. You may need to call a concrete finishing company. They can grind that area down and feather it into the original - then if you want to drop more $$$...
